Characterization of an Influence Affecting Growth of Transplantable Leukemias in Mice*
نویسنده
چکیده
It has been shown in previous communications (1, 2) that an influence transmitted in the milk of certain lactating female mice was effective in influencing the growth of lymphoid leukemias (lines LL449 and and P1543) in mice normally refractory to their growth. This "susceptibility influence" was found to be present dur ing the first l0 days of the lactation period. The influence was found to be transmitted to second generation mice obtained by mat ing litter

Studies on Induced Resistance against Isotransplants of Virus-induced Leukemia.
The antigenicity of several well established Moloney virus-induced transplantable leukemias was studied. Resistance was developed by pretreatment of isologous mice with x-radiated tumor tissue. In general, the neoplasms grew more rapidly in preirradiated mice (400 r) than in normal mice, and at low inoculum concentrations a higher percentage of tumors was observed in the pre-irradiated animals....
متن کاملInduction of micronuclei in a transplantable murine tumor after multimodality treatment with cis-platin, radiation and hyperthermia
Background: Tumor response after multimodality treatment using combination of radiation, chemotherapeutic drugs and hyperthermia usually assessed by parameters such as tumor growth delay, volume doubling time and regression response. The study herein was conducted to investigate the usefulness of micronucleus assay for assessing the multimodality treatment. Materials and Methods: The ...
متن کاملBiological properties of Vincaleukoblastine, an alkaloid in Vinca rosea Linn, with reference to its antitumor action.
Some biological effects of a new alkaloid, Vincaleukoblastine (VLB), are described. In mice bearing the transplantable leukemias L1210, P1534, and AKr or Ehrlich ascites tumor, treatment with VLB effectively prolonged survival. The effectiveness of treatment depended on the amount and spacing of dosage and the time of tininstitution of treatment after transplantation. A single injection of VLB ...
متن کاملProtection against two spontaneous mouse leukemias conferred by immunogenic variants obtained by mutagenesis
Two spontaneous mouse leukemias were adapted to culture. In agreement with most reported observations on spontaneous tumors, injection of irradiated cells of the malignant culture cell lines failed to protect mice against these leukemias. These cell lines were treated in vitro with the mutagen N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine and stable immunogenic variants (tum-) were obtained, that failed...
متن کاملEstrogen Receptor Characterization in a Transplantable Mouse Mammary Tumor1
The estrogen receptor was characterized in a new transplantable mammary tumor line (MXT) which was induced by urethan treatment in C57BL x DBAf F, mice. The tumor is a ductal papillary carcinoma that is ovarian dependent. Treat ment of ovariectomized mice with estradiol benzoate results in rapid growth of the tumor. Cytoplasmic and nuclearbound estrogen receptors were measured by the charcoal a...
